Dear Bridgeport Catholic Academy and St. Gabriel Families,
I am writing to you today to express my gratitude for the opportunity to serve Bridgeport Catholic Academy as your Principal, and as Director of Parish Schools for BCA and St. Gabriel. The history of both of your distinct communities is impressive, and I look forward to working with both neighborhoods to continue on with valued traditions, and to create new ones. Here is a little bit about me: Personally, I am the proud mother of two adult daughters, both away at college. I live in Mount Greenwood and look forward to being back in the city for work too. One of my favorite things to do after work is walk my dog Skipper through the neighborhood while listening to podcasts or catch a workout at Southside Knockout! . Professionally, I currently work as the principal at Cardinal Joseph Bernardin Regional Catholic School. Prior to my role at Cardinal Joseph Bernardin, I served as principal at St. Hubert School in Hoffman Estates, IL and interim principal at Maternity BVM in Humboldt Park. These positions provided me with valuable administrative experience in both suburban and urban settings. The bulk of my educational career has been spent in the urban neighborhoods of Chicago and its surrounding areas. Serving Catholic School Communities is my passion. I deeply believe in the value of what a quality Catholic Education, provided in a caring environment, can do for children. The success of Catholic Schools is personal for me as I would not be where I am without them. I look forward to serving your families and communities officially beginning July 1, 2023. But, before then, I plan visiting both campuses to begin familiarizing myself with each school. Additionally, I hope to host a summer event to begin meeting all of you, stay tuned for more details. Wishing you all Christ’s peace, Kelly Bourrell God Bless our First Communicants,
